The overall opinion of Tapscott’s (2009) book Grown up Digital is that it is a cultural encyclopedia of a generation who defied convention. The author refers to this generation as the Net Generation. It is a book that was both relevant to its time and today in all areas of life where people interact. The formulation of the opinion of the book is based on the mere nature in which Tapscott (2009) organized the book. Characteristics of how a generation born between 1977 and 1997 were perceived, how they live, think, lead, function in the workplace as well and consume are all covered by the author. Concerns and criticisms abound from the shift in technology as this demographic was the first generation to emerge in the digital age (p. 2).
Although an older book and more books have been written about those who are identified as Millennials, this generation is important as they represent the next generation of widespread homeowners. This book was/is important in knowing this generation as we strive to devise solutions to provide housing or homeownership opportunities for them.
